single gurls rock:
the joy of being THE INDEPENDENT WOMAN
i never had a boyfriend all my life. and i'm not planning to have one any sooner. i mean, i love having crushes, feeling kilig, having MUs (mutual understanding-filipino thing), but that doesn't really trigger my desire to have a bf.
won't it look good that you never had a boyfriend when you were in high school? and won't it be nice to be free? i mean, as a girl you have to be independent in two ways: 1) the survival way (when you get stuck in a deserted island, or whatever) and 2) the destiny's child song way ("...all the mommas who profit dollars, throw your hands up at me...").
most of my friends are singles, both girls and guys, some seems to be satisfied, some don't. but i find it rare for anyone else to actually enjoy being single, you know what i mean?
okay, let's look at it this way: when you have a boyfriend, you're not as free. you have to hide crushes, you get stuck with one guy, you have to satisfy him, you have to suffer the hassle of finding gifts everyonce a month. but when you're single, you're totally free! you dress for yourself, you can have as much crushes as you want without anyone stopping you, you don't have to endure those boo-hoos of LQs, and much much more.
then why are some people so, um, excited to find the love of their lives. those people take life waaaaaaayy to seriously that they don't understand the pleasure of enjoying their own company. not right!
well, last year, i did want to have a boyfriend, just for the experience, but well, i figured out it's well, pardon me for the terminology, slutty and cheap. totally not the title i want to be labled.
what i want as a label? THE INDEPENDENT WOMAN: apostle of girl power.
(p.s. to feel the independent woman vibe, i suggest you watch the flicks "two can play that game" and ,"deliver us from eve". the movies are so, um, inspiring!)
